Turns out the government having your DNA on file may not be the worst thing about home DNA testing.
A woman recently wrote to a popular podcast for some advice. She says she bought her husband one of those home DNA kits for his birthday, but the results of it ended up “poisoning” their marriage. It turns out that they are actually first cousins on the paternal side.
The couple have a 2-year-old son, and the woman says that he has been affected. She and her husband no longer share a room and he refuses to even talk to her about the results.
Apparently the husband’s parents have been married for 30 years, and his father would brag about marrying the first woman he ever kissed. But the results of the DNA test suggested that his father cheated on his mother.
The hosts of the podcasts, unsurprisingly didn’t have much to offer other than to try couples therapy and avoid future DNA testing.
And here I thought conspiracy theories were the worst thing to come from all this DNA testing.
