This week on the Brew Review with Josh & Amelia from S.R Perrott brought us 6 out of 12 days of IPA’s from Stone Brewing out of Escondidio California. What’s that you say? Well, it is what it sounds like. It is a 12 pack of Stone Brewing IPA’s but 12 DIFFERENT flavors in one box! It’s rare so if you see it on the shelf, GRAB IT!
We started off with their flagship beer, “Stone IPA“. This one clocks in at a nice 6.9% abv and is everything you would expect from a Stone beer. It’s also their best selling beer and if you’re an IPA fan you’ll know why! Next we sipped on their “Go to” IPA. This is a little bit of a more reserved IPA. It’s not nearly as aggressive as a normal IPA, but you still get the flavor. It only clocks in at 4.75% abv. Then we moved on to their “Soaring Dragon“. It’s an Imperial IPA so it clocks in at 8% abv. The Brewers actually went to Tianshan Tea City in China to get tea leaves to brew with and you can taste it! If you want a different flavor that still sits well on the palate…. this is a great beer to try out!
In the second half we sampled the brew Riggs loves the most, “Scorpion Bowl“. It clocks in at 7.5% abv . It has hints of tropical fruit, tangerine, strawberry, blueberry. Go get ya one! Next we went to “Fear Movie Lions” which is an unfiltered double IPA that clocks in at 8.5% abv. You can see the yeast floating around when you pour it into your glass. It has a juicy front and finished with a slight bitterness. We finished with their “Exotic Destinations” IPA. Clocking in at 7.5% abv, it has a hint of fruit and also tart but still carries the IPA flavor that you’re looking for from Stone beer. Definitely one to sip on!
