Riggs & Steve from The Morning HOG were joined by Josh from S.R. Perrott like always. And today, Josh brought with him a plethora of tasty beverages. Kicking things off, we have a selection from Abita called Pecan Ale with 5.2% ABV. Pecan Ale is made with real Louisiana roasted pecans for a subtle, nutty flavor & aroma. It’s brewed with pale, Munich, biscuit & caramel malts, & Willamette hops. The roasted pecans are added in the brewhouse. Crack one open & geaux nuts! Alright, next up is a Sam Adams sampler called Beer Fest Variety Pack & the first of those four is simply titled Oktoberfest with 5.3% ABV. In 1810, Munich threw a party so great that “Oktoberfest” became an annual 16-Day autumn celebration of beer. Samuel Adams’ rich, roasty Märzen is a pröst to fall. Its deep amber color, mild pleasant sweetness, & light hop character is a hearty (but not heavy) signal to make the most of the crisper days ahead. Beer #2 of 4 has probably one of the coolest labels of all time, Flannel Fest with 5.2% ABV. On that label, it says “Cozy & Smooth” & this beer definitely fits into that category! Flannel is a Munich Dunkel lager with notes of toasted bread & caramel.
After a quick break, the sampling continued with what seemed to be everyone’s fave out of these four. This one is called Hoppy Lager with 4.8% ABV. Hoppy is a German style lager as crisp & refreshing as an autumn hike (which you should bring this beer on). And just in case you all were wondering, Germans do these 10K or 20K walks called Volksmarches all the time. It’s where $teve learned how to eat sunflower seeds the proper way! The fifth beer is actually the last of the Sam Adams & it’s titled Jack-O with 4.4% ABV. Jack-O is a Pumpkin Ale with spooky seasonal spices like cinnamon & nutmeg. And lastly but not leastly, we have TBBC‘s Gourdes Gone Wild with 6% ABV. This brown ale is malty & balanced at its core, accompanied by all the pumpkin pie fixins’. The spices remind us of a homemade pie, while the vanilla & lactose create a smooth & creamy, medium-bodied mouth feel. That’s gonna do it for this week.
