Bunnell, FL – A collection site has been designated in order to accept donations for five children, three girls, ages 8, 12 and 14 and two boys, ages 6 and 9. They were taken from their parents, Dennis Allen and Betty Allen, on Halloween after they were found living in a filthy home with no running water.
f you’d like to help the children, the Community Baptist Church located at 956 S. Old Dixie Highway, is the place to drop off donations. Those that want to donate financially can mail or drop off a check to the church made out to Community Baptist Church with “Allen Children” written in the memo line on the check. You can also donate online at the church’s website. If you have any questions, contact the church at 386-437-1010 or by email.
Church staff will manage the funds and distribute for each child’s needs equally. Donated money will not go to the parents. If you’d rather donate clothing, the children are in need of new or gently used clothing, underwear, socks, and shoes. There are three girls, ages 8, 12 and 14 and two boys, ages 6 and 9.
“I am so impressed with the community’s desire to help these children in need,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Thank you for coming together to help and support them and thank you to the Community Baptist Church for stepping up to help them and for looking out for them.”
The children are currently being cared for in two foster homes, with the girls together in one place and the boys together in the other through a joint partnership between the Department of Children and Families and the Community Partnership for Children (CPC). CPC is working to find a place where the siblings can be together. Another option is the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranches. Sheriff Staly is a member of the Board of Directors and worked with the agency’s President Bill Frye to hold five vacancies at the FSYR Bradenton campus. At this time, the state has not agreed to that placement. Final placement will be decided by DCF and the courts.
