A new study looked at Google Trends to figure out which Thanksgiving side dish is the most popular in every state and you may find a few surprises on the map.
The data is based off of trends in November of 2019 because traffic on Thanksgiving day gives the best representation as to what people really searched while cooking. That makes it pretty legit in our book.
Here’s the map and 3 important takeaways.
- Mashed potatoes are the favorite (10 states) and Mac n’ Cheese is a respectable second (7 states).
- The Midwest is partial to casseroles and Maine apparently hates Thanksgiving (side salad??).
- Alabama prefers dressing to stuffing because they obviously understand the risk of salmonella is real.
