If you’ve yet to have try the coveted sandwich that has started social media wars, you may have to wait a little longer. Popeyes has announced that it has sold out of its glorious chicken sandwiches… or the stores are about to anyway, but do not fear because they are “working tirelessly” to get more supplies.
While the “SOLD OUT” announcement has come down the line, it appears all of the individual stores are not yet sold out so if you jump in the car now you may have a fighting chance. A Popeyes’ representative told Thrillist, “It has been amazing to see our guests share their love for our brand and for the new Chicken Sandwich on social media and beyond, and we are truly humbled and grateful for their support. The demand for the new Chicken Sandwich in the first few weeks following launch far exceeded our very optimistic expectations. In fact, Popeyes aggressively forecasted demand through the end of September and has already sold through that inventory.”
This leaves us with a LOT of questions. How does a nationwide chicken joint RUN OUT OF CHICKEN? Are there no more cucumbers to make pickles because the vegans ate them all? Have the anti-gluten people finally destroyed brioche?
They say in marketing that scarcity creates demand but what happens when you create MORE scarcity around something already being demanded? Buy 10, sell them online, and let me know.
Y’all. We love that you love The Sandwich. Unfortunately we’re sold out (for now). pic.twitter.com/Askp7aH5Rr
