Ocearch, a non profit marine life tracking team worked with Seaworld and have tagged and tracked a female great white weighing in at over 2,ooo lbs and coming in at over 15 feet long!
They found her swimming off the coast of Myrtle Beach S.C on October 12th and have now tracked her all the way down in the keys! They say this is the 2nd biggest great white they have tagged and monitored in the Northwest Atlantic!
They’re hoping she leads them to where she mates, gives birth and where her nursery is. Shark activity reaches it’s peak between April through October. The FWC (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission) does want you to be safe and aware of your surroundings when swimming in FL beaches but also states that you’re 30 times more likely to be struck by lightning in FL than being bitten by shark.
