Volusia County, FL – If your library books are past due, you can get one dollar off the amount for each undamaged, unexpired box or can of nonperishable food you bring in.
The dollar per item brought in is good for up to $25. Donated food is being used to refill local food banks. Last year, the program collected 6,400 pounds of food.
The Food for Fines program is part of the ninth annual Feed the Need food drive spearheaded by Volusia County Government.
County employees, employees from Volusia County Schools, local cities and other organizations are in competition to see who collects the most food per full-time employee
The Food for Fines program begins tomorrow, November 17 and continues through November 30.
Check with your city government to find out if they are in the competition.
